This is a new column that I've started as an extension of Melodic Mondays. MM is Steve's thing, but I really wanted to bring to light some awesome music that I enjoy as well. Without stepping on any toes (hopefully), I wanted to share some of my favourite cover songs that have been done by various artists.
On today's edition, you may have noticed from the title that my first article is about Linkin Park covering a song by Adele. Neither artist are particular favourites of mine, but I feel that it's really important that a cover song becomes it's own song by the hand of the person covering it. If that makes any sense at all. I mean, if you're going to do a cover of a song, just make it your own. That wasn't so hard to explain!
For London's iTunes Festival, Linkin Park busted out this cover of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep", a song I grew to more or less love through it's constant playing during my retail days at HMV. Now, I'll let the song speak for itself, but please keep in mind that this column, like Melodic Monday itself, is here to broaden your horizons. Whether you like or don't like Adele and/or Linkin Park, just check this out and give it the benefit of the doubt.
